Land Core Submits Joint FY 2023 Agriculture Appropriations Request
Alongside several food and farming organizations, Land Core submitted a request to Congress to invest in soil health and resilient agriculture through the FY 2023 appropriations process, in which Congress annually approves billions in discretionary funding for farm and food programs.
The enclosed requests for the Department of Agriculture will help to expand vital education, technical service provision and implementation assistance for producers adopting soil health practices; increase equitable opportunity and access to all USDA programs; and advance local and regional infrastructure and markets to increase access to healthy, regionally sourced food.
Supporting America’s farmers and ranchers in adopting soil health, regenerative agriculture and climate-smart practices is imperative, not only to avert imminent food supply and insecurity issues from the prolonged pandemic and invasion of Ukraine, but also to reverse soil degradation, safeguard food security, farm profitability and productivity, revive rural communities, and mitigate the impacts of climate change.
The request was submitted by Earthjustice, the Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance, GC Resolve, the Izaak Walton League of America, Kiss the Ground, Land Core, the Nanban Foundation, Regenerative Farmers of America, Textile Exchange, and Thousand Hills Lifetime Grazed.
