Land Core submits letter to Congress in support of DEFER Act

Today, Land Core, along with a diverse group of farms, businesses, and organizations, submitted a letter to Congressional Agriculture Committee leadership in support of the DEFER Act and its inclusion in the 2023 Farm Bill.

The DEFER (Deferments to Expedite Financing of Essential Resilience) Act would authorize the Secretary of Agriculture to defer payments on all Farm Service Agency (FSA) direct loans for investing in soil health management systems. This is an opportunity to unlock flexible capital for producers to invest in voluntary conservation and increased resilience, and would contribute hundreds of millions of dollars in private capital to soil conservation.
